How Biogas Works?

Biogas is a combustible gas produced by anaerobic fermentation of organic materials by the action of methanogenic bacteria. This gas is principally composed of methane and carbon dioxide. Methane is odorless and invisible in bright daylight. It burns with a clear blue flame without smoke and is non-toxic. It produces more heat than kerosene, wood, charcoal, and cow-dung chips.

History of Biogas

Methane is odourless and invisible in bright daylight. It burns with a clear blue flame without smoke and is non-toxic. It produces more heat than kerosene, wood, charcoal, and cow-dung chips.

Biogas Technologies

Biogas is a combustible gas produced by anaerobic fermentation of organic materials by the action of methanogenic bacteria. This gas is principally composed of methane and carbon dioxide. Methane is odorless and invisible in bright daylight. It burns with a clear blue flame without smoke and is non-toxic. It produces more heat than kerosene, wood, charcoal, and cow-dung chips.

BIOSLURRY

After the completion of bio-gas plant, an equal amount of cow dung and water is mixed and send to the digester though the inlet of the Bio-gas plant. Inside the Bio-gas plant decomposition of the mixture takes place to produce methane gas and the remaining portion of the mixture is send through the outlet of the Bio-gas plant which is known as Bioslurry. This viscous liquid contains 93% water and 7% percent dry matter (4.5% organic & 2.5 % inorganic). Bioslurry is a ready-made fertilizer containing every nutrient needed for the plant and can be directly used in fields to grow crops which is more effective in comparison to other fertilizers.

Advantages of Biogas

Biogas users can benefit in several ways from the biogas technology. The advantages of biogas are:
Sustainable energy source – no use of fossil fuels
Reduces deforestation
Decentralised power generation
